Shaping the future through youth-led environmental leadership
At Action for Nature , we believe young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are change-makers today. Our Youth Advocacy in Natural Resources Governance program is designed to equip youth with the knowledge, voice, and platforms they need to influence how forests, land, and water are managed in their communities.

Across our landscapes, we see youth stepping up to defend their ecosystems, challenge inequities, and bring innovation to environmental stewardship. We nurture that energy by creating spaces for learning, leadership, and action rooted in both Indigenous traditions and contemporary policy tools.
Our Approach
We provide practical training, mentorship, and support that empowers youth to lead in environmental governance and community development.
● Education and Training : We deliver learning programs that cover environmental policy, climate justice, and Indigenous knowledge systems, helping youth understand
the interconnectedness of ecology and governance.
● Youth-Led Platforms : From social media advocacy to village councils, we support spaces where young voices can raise awareness, demand action, and propose
solutions on pressing issues like deforestation and land degradation.
● Community Engagement : Youth are embedded in participatory planning processes, contributing to land use decisions, climate adaptation efforts, and local conservation priorities.
● Mentorship : Through mentorship programs, we pair young advocates with experienced conservationists, activists, and traditional leaders to develop real-world skills in advocacy, negotiation, and organizing.
● Cultural Continuity : We encourage youth to honor and carry forward traditional ecological practices, making governance both inclusive and culturally grounded.
Why This Matters
Youth bring fresh perspectives, urgency, and creativity to natural resource governance. Their advocacy:
● Builds long-term commitment to sustainability
● Bridges intergenerational knowledge gaps
● Ensures the representation of marginalized voices
● Strengthens community ownership of environmental decisions
Through our work, young people in Zambia are reclaiming their role as environmental stewards, turning awareness into action and action into systemic change. This initiative is a vital part of our broader vision at Action for Nature to foster inclusive, community-driven conservation where all voices, especially youth, are heard, respected, and empowered.
